I remember listening to this album for the first time 4-5 years ago when I was attending university in the city. I began listening while reading Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse 5. It paired so well together like coffee and a morning joint, The eerie usage of the theremin fit so well with the sc-fi theme of the novel while the brooding guitar/bass motifs resonated with the themes of existentialism and dread of war. But in both the novel and this album there is a constant upward momentum of an uplifting nature that inspires us to see past the dread and mist of an uneasy world and strive for a life of happiness and content even while the walls tumble in on us. During the time of listening to this album and reading Slaughterhouse 5 I was experiencing a loneliness I had never encountered before. Still grieving the death of my grandfather I had no one to share this grief with, and even in these hardest times I ever trudged forward with my eyes set and my fist clenched. Struggles will always persist for that is the nature of progress, and it is up to us to continue or fail... and so it goes
